Valentina Hoyos / La Muralla farm is located in the department of San Agustin, in the southern part of the Huila region, cradled in the Andes Mountains range where Colombia's largest river Magdalena is born. It is a mysterious region where huge stone idols from ancient pre-Colombian times lie among centuries of foliage.

The farmers around here are mainly smallholders that have made a solid push to produce specialty coffee that brings out the real character of the region's terroir. Valentina Hoyos is the third-generation coffee grower in her family. The farm belonged to her father, who inherited it from his parents, who split the land between her father and his ten siblings. After finishing the study, Valentina returned to the farm to work closely with her father on the farm management. She is an example that young generation coffee growers remain in the regions. That gives us a huge hope that the coffee culture will remain here. Besides coffee, Hoyos's family also cultivate tomato, beans, peas, corn, and bananas. It helps them to be self-sufficient but also as a source of shadow and nutrients.

Their farm is surrounded by a small natural forest reserve that keeps excellent soil for their coffee crops and provides water. Valentina works very closely with her father Ramon Hoyos, who is her teacher and her source of inspiration.
