Introducing the first coffee of our Top Shelf line! We've partnered with Verve to release this expressive hybrid washed coffee from star Ethiopian producer Tamiru Tadesse. This is a fantastic presentation of high quality farming practices alongside controlled fermentation that boosts enjoyable qualities in coffee such as acidity, sweetness, and florality while also creating delicate layering and separation of notes. We're really happy to be featuring a coffee of this caliber for you all to enjoy. Please read below for our tasting experience! 

 

Tasting Experience: 

 

Hot: White flowers forward with big aromatics, like smelling gardenias, then linked to round blueberry acidity, very sweet finish but long linger. Big body and creamy texture, like custard.  

 

Warm: Acidity becomes much more structured and defined. Florals appear after the blueberry acidity. Sweetness becomes more apparent and lingers on the palate. Clean finish. Acidity starts to become very intense. Pay attention to the layering here! 

 

Room temp: Intense blueberry forward acidity, pastry-like sweetness, florals take a back seat after the acidity but then pop up and linger on your palate. Long linger of sweetness and florals. Very clean finish. 

 

We recommend you rest this coffee for at least 3+ weeks for best results. We also suggest you experiment with longer ratios on this coffee and see how it opens up with time! 

 

From Verve: 

 

Verve’s first African Farmlevel Reserve reflects the meticulous, technique-driven approach of producer Tamiru Tadesse, whose work at elevations of 2,400 to 2,500 meters emphasizes precision at every stage. Uniformly ripe cherries are selectively harvested, then fermented anaerobically for 96 hours with daily rotation to ensure even development through the lot.

 

Following fermentation, cherries are carefully sorted before being depulped and washed immediately, bypassing traditional fermentation to preserve clarity and highlight terroir expression. The freshly washed parchment is dried on African raised beds over 12 days, with hourly turning and midday shade to protect delicate flavors. Once the target moisture is reached, the coffee is rested prior to milling and export. The result is a coffee shaped by deliberate choices and technical discipline, balancing fermentation-driven sweetness with washed-process clarity.
