This prestigious global competition, produced annually by World Coffee Events (WCE), showcases the crème de la crème of coffee professionals. But what exactly happens at the WBC, and why is it such a celebrated event in the coffee community? Let's find out!

The event draws over 50 national champion baristas from around the world, each a winner of local and regional competitions. The Competitive Brew
Every participant in the WBC faces an exhilarating and challenging format:
• Milk Drink Mastery: Competitors craft 4 milk-based drinks, where harmony between coffee and milk is key.
• Signature Creativity: Perhaps the most exciting part – each barista presents 4 original signature drinks. This round is a showcase of innovation, where baristas infuse their unique experiences and knowledge into unforgettable coffee creations.
A Panel of Palates
The WBC isn't just about making great coffee; it's about presenting it flawlessly. A panel of WCE Certified Judges from across the globe evaluates each performance. Their criteria? The taste of the beverages, cleanliness of preparation, creativity, technical skills, and overall presentation. The signature beverage round is a particular highlight, offering a window into each barista's personality and coffee philosophy.
The Journey to the Top
From the initial round, the top 15 highest-scoring competitors, along with a wild-card winner from the Team Competition, advance to the semifinals. The pressure mounts as only six of these will make it to the final round. And from this elite group, one outstanding barista will emerge as the World Barista Champion.
