This is an exciting Top Shelf release from our friends at Moonwake Coffee roasters and a wonderfully expressive and high clarity presentation of the SL9 varietal from Peru. If you want to understand all the excitement about SL9 this will be the coffee to taste! It’s similar to Gesha, but not exactly Gesha. When sipping on this coffee pay attention to how the acidity, florals, and sweetness present between each temperature.

For best results, we recommend you rest this coffee for at least 4+ weeks! You can also push this coffee very hard in extraction. But please rest this coffee for it to fully open up.

Hot: Jasmine floral forward aromatics with melon/cantaloupe sweetness. White florals are very forward here with tropical acidity and a tea like finish. Honeysuckle note is present and tied to vivid florality. High levels of sweetness and florals. 

Warm: As the cup cools, the tropical acidity becomes defined in the form of mangosteen with a layered presentation. There is big sweetness and the white florals remain intact and structured. There is a lovely balance between acidity and sweetness yet each component is detailed and expressive. Florals are even more vivid and expressive here. There’s an interesting retronasal effect here with a Honeysuckle note that you should look for. 

Cool: Beautiful layering and structure of flavors. White peach, honeysuckle, cantaloupe, tropical acidity, and jasmine. Sparkly and crisp acidity found in delicate and cleanly processed coffees reminding us of Gesha. Long linger of acidity and fantastic articulation of flavors. Very elegant!
