Passenger Coffee
Ruther Quispe Washed Gesha
This week’s secret stash is a lovely washed Peru Gesha roasted by Passenger! If you’ve never had a well produced and roasted Peru gesha this will be a strong introduction. I feel that in the past few years many enthusiasts have written off Peru coffees (especially geshas!) as being a bit one dimensional but I find this coffee to be a great example of complexity and vibrant acidity in Peruvian coffee. In the cup I find layered yellow fruit (lemon/nectarine) acidity tied together with brown sugar sweetness and a floral and clean finish (I also get nice honeysuckle at the back!). What’s nice about this coffee is you can push it to have more lemon or nectarine acidity depending on how fine you grind. The profile of this coffee is highly sweetness forward and has a lot of those nice gesha subtleties and qualities in the finish! I suggest you play with recipes on this coffee and compare it against the one I put on the card. Additional recipe to play with here
